Delaware County Senior Games

Blazing June temperatures were no match for Delaware County’s senior athletes. Over 500 tenacious residents participated in this year’s 20th Anniversary Senior Games, which ran June 8-18 at various venues throughout Delaware County.

Athletes aged 50 and older braved the heat to compete in golf, swimming, tennis, bowling, basketball, table tennis, shuffleboard, track & field, horseshoes, billiards and a special Wii bowling event.

The event culminated July 1 with a Winner’s Circle reception that featured awards and a slide show recap of Senior Games competition. Several Senior Games athletes received special honors at the Winners Circle reception held at the Drexelbrook Corporate Events Center in Drexel Hill.

The Delaware County Senior Games are sponsored by Delaware County Council, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA.) The mission of the Games is to engage adults, 50+, in a week-long event that promotes a healthy, social and active lifestyle.
